New Years eve is party time. A lot of people who don't do anything all year go out and celebrate. Those celebrations generally involving alcohol and drinking, which means an increased number of intoxicated drivers on the streets. In case you haven't heard, the police are also out looking for drunk drivers; which means you're chances of getting caught are increased.

So how can you avoid getting pulled over for driving while intoxicated. You can check out this article for tips on avoiding getting stopped in the first place. But here's some more basic advice.

The first tip is pretty obvious - don't drink and drive! If you are going to drive, decide on someone as a designated driver. It's really not that hard. If that doesn't work, call a cab - or someone you know who hasn't been drinking. The Waco transit authority is offering free rides - both to and and from your event. You can't beat that. All you have to do is call 154- 750-1620. And if that's not good enough, you can also get your car towed.

Don't start the new year off on the wrong foot. There are much better places to be on January 1 than the McLennan County jail. But if you want to ignore this advice, we are here to help. So when you sober up and get out of jail, give us a call at 254-296-0020.
